How HP Tuners Works

  1. Read your vehicle: HP Tuners connects to your vehicle’s OBD-II port to read the factory calibration.
  2. Tune file prepared: Based on your ECU, modifications, and fuel type, a tune file is created or adjusted.
  3. Flash the tune: The tune is written back to the vehicle using HP Tuners software.
  4. Verify & revise (if needed): Data logs may be requested to confirm fueling, spark, and drivability.

Important Notes for New Users

  • HP Tuners does not increase power by itself — the tune file does
  • Some vehicles require software credits to flash
  • Flashing may VIN-lock the device to your vehicle
  • Proper fuel and mechanical condition are required

Holley EFI / ECM Tuning Support

Standalone Holley tuning for LS swaps, race cars, and performance builds. This option is for vehicles running a dedicated Holley ECU — not factory GM computers.

Holley ECUs replace the factory PCM entirely and give full control over fueling, ignition timing, idle strategy, boost control, and safety limits. Because Holley systems rely heavily on correct sensor configuration and wiring, accurate setup information is critical before tuning begins. These systems are commonly used in engine swaps, forced-induction builds, race cars, and vehicles that no longer retain factory electronics.

Rental Agreement Acknowledgment

By requesting an HP Tuners device rental, you acknowledge that the device remains the property of Down Dirty 84 LLC at all times. You agree to use the device only for the approved vehicle and tuning purpose, and to return it in working condition within the stated rental window.

Return-by Date Policy

Rental devices must be shipped back no later than 7 days from delivery. Late returns may result in daily late fees or forfeiture of the refundable deposit. Tracking information is required for all returns.

HP Tuners VIN Lock & Credits Disclaimer

HP Tuners interfaces may require software credits and may VIN-lock to a vehicle when flashing. Unless explicitly included in writing, software credits are not provided. Any VIN locks or credit usage incurred during tuning are the responsibility of the customer.

Rental requests are reviewed and approved before shipping.

Typical Turnaround Time

Most pre-made and file-based requests are delivered within 24–72 business hours after approval, payment, and all required info/files are received. Complex setups (boost/E85, sensor issues, incomplete data) may take longer.

To protect your engine and keep results consistent, we may decline requests that match any of the following:

  • Unknown engine condition, misfires, check-engine lights, or unresolved mechanical issues
  • Fuel system not sized for your power goal (especially boost/E85)
  • Unsafe boost setup (no wideband/monitoring, no proper MAP/MAF configuration)
  • Unknown injector data / incorrect injector characterization
  • Customer cannot provide current tune file and/or data logs if requested
  • Unsupported ECU/tooling for your year/model
